Here is another interesting observation, there are no images of business-strike San Francisco quarters in the Mint’s American Women Quarters image library? Was this by design or just an omission? It appears that the S-Mint quarters were made for collectors only. The San Francisco Mint also produced Angelou quarters in business strike, but none were released into general circulation as far as I can tell. American Women Quarters struck in proof condition are made for collectors only and not for circulation. The clad quarters are 91.67% copper and 8.33% nickel, while the silver coins are 99.9% silver. The proof quarters will include both the clad and silver coins. The 2022-S Maya Angelou quarters minted in San Francisco are produced in two different finishes, proof and business-strike, with the latter usually intended as a circulation finish. So where are the San Francisco minted Angelo quarters? Mint started shipping millions of the Maya Angelou quarters to the Federal reserve from the Philadelphia and Denver mints. It is important to note that the production numbers above are only for the official mint retail packaged roll and bags.
